Ablution as a means to erase sins and gain rewards

📖Sunan Ibn Mājah 427
Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Shall I not tell you of that by which Allah expiates your sins and increases your good deeds?” They said, “Of course, O Messenger of Allah.” The Prophet said, “Thorough ablution despite difficulty, taking many steps to the mosque, and waiting for one prayer after another.

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 4:103
Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times.
Prayer is a duty that must be observed consistently, as it cleanses sins and strengthens faith.

📖Quran 62:9
O you who have believed, when [the call] is made for prayer on the day of Jumu’ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.
This verse shows the command to prioritize prayer and not neglect it.

📖Quran 64:16
So fear Allah as much as you are able and listen and obey and spend [in the way of Allah]; it is better for your souls.
Here, Allah makes clear that obligations are based on one’s ability – showing that genuine reasons are accepted.

Islam is balanced – if someone has a valid reason such as sickness, weakness, heavy rain, or fear, then they are not sinful for not going to the mosque. They can pray at home, and Allah accepts their prayer. However, knowingly neglecting prayer without a reason is a sign of arrogance, pride, and rejection of Allah’s command, which is a major sin.

  • Ablution is an act of worship that cleanses sins.
  • Walking to the mosque multiplies rewards.
  • Waiting for prayer increases faith.
  • Missing the mosque due to a valid reason (sickness, danger, travel, etc.) is not sinful.
  • Missing prayer knowingly out of laziness or arrogance is a major sin.
  • Allah only burdens a soul within its capacity.

📖Quran 5:6
O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows, and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles…
This verse shows the command of ablution, without which prayer is incomplete.
