Divine speech greater than creation

📖Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2926
Abu Sa’id reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The superiority of the words of Allah over all other words is like the superiority of Allah over His creation.”

This hadith shows the unmatched greatness of Allah’s words. Unlike human speech, Allah’s words are eternal, perfect, and free from flaw. All revelations – Torah, Psalms, Injil, and Qur’an – are the words of Allah, and thus far superior to any man – made book or philosophy. But the Qur’an holds the highest station, as it is the final, preserved revelation. When people prefer poetry, philosophy, or modern ideologies over divine scripture, they choose weakness over perfection. The Qur’an is not just literature; it is guidance, healing, and truth.

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 9:6
And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah. Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know.

📖Quran 6:115
And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can change His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

📖Quran 18:109
Say, “If the sea were ink for the words of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted, even if We brought the like of it as a supplement.

📖Quran 3:3
He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.

And We gave David the Psalms.

But the Qur’an also teaches us that people changed, distorted, or forgot parts of those scriptures:

📖Quran 2:79
So woe to those who write the Scripture with their own hands then say, “This is from Allah,” to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written, and woe to them for what they earn.

📖Quran 5:48
And We have revealed to you the Book in truth, confirming what was before it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their desires away from the truth that has come to you.

That’s why the Qur’an is final, preserved, and superior – because it is still exactly as Allah revealed, while the previous scriptures were altered over time, The hadith reminds us that every revealed scripture was Allah’s word and therefore higher than anything people can produce. Today, when ideologies and philosophies try to replace divine guidance, this hadith anchors us back to the eternal superiority of revelation.
