Strength of Muslims tied to their weak
📖Sunan al-Nasā’ī 3178
Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas reported: The Prophet ﷺ said, “Verily, Allah only supports this nation due to the supplications, the prayers, and the sincerity of their vulnerable.
This hadith emphasizes that the strength and survival of the Muslim Ummah is not built upon wealth, armies, or status, but upon the du‘a, salah, and sincerity of the weak and oppressed. Their connection to Allah is the hidden protection of the Ummah.
But today, many Muslims ask: “Why are our supplications not answered? Why do prayers of the weak seem unheard?” The answer is clear – Allah only supports when His commands are upheld. If the Ummah abandons Qur’an and Sunnah, tolerates oppression, follows desires, and mocks religion, then their supplications lose weight. You cannot expect Allah’s help while rejecting His laws, This is where many are wrong: they hold onto culture and nationalism instead of Qur’an and Sunnah, and then wonder why the ummah remains weak. Their du‘a is like knocking on a door without sincerity or obedience.
Quranic Context:
📖Quran 8:53
“That is because Allah would not change a favor which He had bestowed upon a people until they change what is within themselves. And indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing.”
📖Quran 13:11
“Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves. But when Allah wills punishment for a people, there is no turning it back. And they have no protector besides Him.”
📖Quran 2:286
“Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear. It will have [the consequence of] what good it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what evil it has earned. Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us.
📖Quran 19:59
But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil.
📖Quran 6:44
So when they forgot what they had been reminded of, We opened for them the gates of every [pleasant] thing until, when they rejoiced in what they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were left in despair.
This shows how when people become corrupt and arrogant, Allah may remove blessings – including the weak and vulnerable whose prayers had been a source of mercy and support for the whole community. At the same time, He may allow the corrupt to enjoy worldly blessings, which they feel are favors, but in reality, those very things become the source of their destruction.
Support also from Allah comes in many forms:
- Through the sincere du‘a of the weak, which shields the community from destruction.
- By granting unexpected victory, even when Muslims are few in number.
- By spreading the religion on its own – Islam continues to grow in hearts regardless of worldly strength.
- By taking away (through death) the poor and weak when corruption spreads, so that their prayers and sincerity no longer shield the arrogant people.
- By exposing the hypocrites and separating the sincere from those who seek only worldly gain.
Quranic Context:
📖Quran 19:57–58
And We raised him (Idris) to a high position. Those were the ones upon whom Allah bestowed favor — from the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel — and of those whom We guided and chose. Whenever the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell down prostrating and weeping.

📖Sahih al-Bukhari 6434
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The righteous (pious people will depart (die) in succession one after the other, and there will remain (on the earth) useless people like the useless husk of barley seeds or bad dates.
