Humiliation upon Ummah until repentance

📖Sunan Abi Dawud 3462
The Prophet ﷺ said: When you engage in ‘ʿīnah’ transactions, hold onto the tails of oxen, become satisfied with agriculture, and abandon jihad in the path of Allah – Allah will impose disgrace upon you, and He will not remove it until you return to your religion.”

Description:

This hadith warns Muslims about abandoning their primary responsibilities and becoming overly attached to worldly pursuits. Specifically, it condemns:

• ʿĪnah transaction: a form of riba (usury) disguised as a sale, leading to financial corruption.
• Clinging to agriculture and livestock: symbolic of becoming obsessed with worldly gains at the cost of religious duties.
• Abandoning jihad: neglecting the struggle to uphold truth, justice, and the message of Islam.

The result? Disgrace and humiliation will descend upon such a nation and will not be lifted until they return to Islam in its complete form.

What is Jihad?

Jihad means “struggle” or “striving” – not limited to warfare. It includes:

1. Jihad against the self (nafs) – resisting evil desires and staying obedient to Allah.
2. Jihad with wealth and efforts – supporting Islamic causes.
3. Jihad by the pen and tongue – defending Islam through words and knowledge.
4. Jihad by the sword (when necessary and just) – protecting Muslims and removing oppression.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The best type of Jihad (striving in the way of Allah) is speaking a true word in the presence of a tyrant ruler.

What We Learn Today:

• Muslim nations today are humiliated not because of lack of power, but because they’ve left jihad – in all its forms: struggle, sacrifice, sincerity, and standing for truth.
• Many indulge in riba-based systems (modern ʿīnah), luxury farming, and worldly distractions, while neglecting dawah, defense, and justice.
• Returning to Islam fully is the only solution to lift disgrace.
