Hadith on Sunnah Following the clear path

📖Sunan Ibn Mājah 44
Al-‘Irbad ibn Sariyah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “I have left you upon a clear path, its clarity is the same by night or day. No one deviates from it after me but that he will be ruined.

This hadith highlights that Islam was left on a path so clear that there is no confusion, whether in good times or trials, whether night or day. The Prophet ï·º clarified everything needed for guidance. This does not mean that if people stop following it they will never go astray; rather, the meaning is that as long as they hold firm to it, no one can mislead them. If anyone tries to deviate from that straight path while it is being followed, they themselves will be destroyed. Had Muslims fully upheld this message as it was left – there would have been one nation, one rule, and one system where no force could mislead or corrupt.

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 5:3
This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as your religion.

The message was perfected and made complete — leaving no room for distortion if followed as revealed.

📖Quran 6:153
And, indeed, this is My straight path, so follow it, and do not follow other ways, for they will separate you from His way. This has He instructed you, that you may become righteous.

The Qur’an emphasizes that deviation only comes when people abandon the straight path.

📖Quran 3:103
And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not be divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers.

Unity upon the clear path prevents misguidance and destruction.

📖Quran 59:7
And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he forbids you, refrain from it. And fear Allah, for Allah is severe in penalty.
