Who has not fallen short of Allah’s commands?

📖Sunan al-Tirmidhi 3284
Ibn Abbas reported: He recited the verse, Those who avoid the major sins and obscenities, except for the shortcomings,” (Quran 53:32). Then, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, “If You forgive, O Allah, Your forgiveness is vast, yet who among Your servants has not fallen short?”

Meaning:
This hadith beautifully captures the mercy and forgiveness of Allah toward His servants. The verse from Surah An-Najm (53:32) distinguishes between major sins and “shortcomings” – minor mistakes or slip-ups that humans inevitably commit. The Prophet ﷺ’s statement emphasizes that while Allah’s forgiveness is immense, no one is free from errors or faults, It teaches humility, reminding believers that perfection is not expected; instead, seeking Allah’s forgiveness for inevitable shortcomings is essential. Everyone makes mistakes, but Allah’s mercy encompasses all who sincerely repent.
