The Pledge of Allegiance and its Obligations

📖Sahih Muslim 2749
Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger ï·ș having said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you were not to commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace you with people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would pardon them.”

Explanation:

This Hadith does not encourage sin, nor does it suggest Allah wants evil to spread. Instead, it teaches four important truths:

  1. Human beings are created weak, and it is natural to fall into mistakes or minor sins.
  2. No one can truly claim to be completely free of sin. Even the best of people are not perfect.
  3. The real test is not being sinless — it’s turning back to Allah in repentance.
  4. If people became arrogant and believed they are pure, denying their faults and refusing to seek forgiveness, then Allah could replace them with humble, repentant believers.

Most acceptable and accurate to consider is that this hadith refers to those who genuinely believe they have never sinned – not those who may lie or deny their sins out of fear, weakness, or shame while still knowing deep inside that they are flawed and capable of error. Allah does not judge merely by words, but by what is truly in the heart. This hadith is not targeting people who are weak yet humble; it addresses those who live their entire lives with the delusion of being sinless, filled with arrogance and pride, as if they were divine or as if God told them they are incapable of making mistakes. Such people never seek forgiveness because they believe they have nothing to repent for. Their hearts are blinded by self-righteousness, and they will die at their appointed time with a lost soul – their whole life wiped out, having lived in false pride instead of humble repentance.

So what are examples of sins or mistakes this Hadith refers to?

These include common, everyday human errors that we are expected to fight against, such as:

  • Getting angry unnecessarily
  • Speaking without thinking
  • Making fun of someone
  • Looking down on others
  • Delaying prayer
  • Thinking bad of people (su’ al-dhann)
  • Being ungrateful
  • Reacting with pride or ego
  • Losing patience
  • Small lies or excuses
  • Thinking you’re better than others because of race, wealth, or piety

These are all real sins, and as soon as a person commits any of them, they are no longer sinless. But Allah wants us to recognize, repent, and purify the heart.

Important Point:

This Hadith does not cover major evil actions like:

  • Murder
  • Rape
  • Kufr (denial of Allah)
  • Persisting in sin with no intention to change

These are not “human mistakes” – they are already declared punishable in this world and in Hell by the Qur’an. That’s why they are not part of the hadith’s message, which speaks about arrogance, not clear-cut crimes. And importantly, the denial of Allah and His commands – such as “Do not kill,” “Do not commit rape” – is not simply sinning out of weakness. It is open rebellion and conscious rejection. When someone commits these acts knowingly and denies Allah’s authority over them, the punishment begins with that rejection, not just the act. Such people fall completely outside the scope of this hadith, This hadith refers to anyone – whether they claim belief or not – who truly believes in their heart until death that they are sinless. It applies to those who live their lives with pride, thinking they are above mistakes and have no need for repentance. Whether Muslim or non-Muslim, the moment someone begins to believe they are pure, perfect, and beyond accountability, they have entered dangerous ground, Such pride leads to self-deception, and that delusion is what causes Allah to sweep them out – not because they sinned, but because they lived with arrogance, never turned back, and saw no need for Allah’s mercy. And when their appointed time comes, they are wiped out – spiritually cut off and replaced.

📖Quran 35:45
“If Allah were to punish people [immediately] for what they have earned, He would not leave a single creature on its back. But He gives them respite until an appointed time.”

the hadith Sahih Muslim 2749 refers to those who genuinely believe they are sinless – not those who lie out of weakness but still know in their hearts they are flawed. Allah does not wipe out a person simply for sinning or denying out of fear. He gives them time – a test – to reflect, repent, and return. But the one who lives with arrogance, believing he is above sin and never seeks forgiveness, invites his own destruction, And when his appointed time comes, he is wiped out. Not just physically – but spiritually. His life ends with a lost soul, erased from mercy, because he lived in false pride, as if he were divine. Allah replaces him with someone who sins, humbles himself, and repents – because repentance is more beloved to Allah than fake perfection.

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 39:53
Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”

This verse supports the Hadith – no matter the sin, as long as the person seeks forgiveness, Allah is ready to forgive.

📖Quran 4:110
And whoever does evil or wrongs himself but then seeks forgiveness of Allah will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful.

These verses show that Allah’s mercy is vast – He forgives all sins for those who truly repent. However, this does not mean someone can spend their entire life committing evil like rape or murder and expect instant forgiveness at death, Crimes like murder and rape already carry punishments in Islamic law, and these crimes are not considered just “mistakes.” Forgiveness in such cases can happen only if the victim’s family pardons or justice is served, and then the person sincerely turns back to Allah. But even then, only Allah decides whether the repentance is accepted — no human can declare that such a person is guaranteed Paradise, So while these verses include all sins, major crimes like rape and murder come with earthly consequences, and true forgiveness depends on sincere repentance, justice being served, or being forgiven by those wronged.

📖Quran 4:18
“But repentance is not accepted from those who continue to do evil until death comes to one of them and he says, ‘Now I repent’; nor from those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment.”

This proves that Allah allows repentance throughout life – but once death is present, it’s too late and Eventually, their appointed time will come – and when it does, they will be fully wiped out.”

This Is for You – The Hadith Copier

Anyone who copies or quotes hadith without understanding its meaning is no different from Shaytan – they’re influenced by the whispers of Iblis. If that’s your approach, then you’re not spreading truth, you’re just spreading lies by misinterpreting sacred texts. You’re free to do that – if you believe your Shaytan.

Additional Information

So anyone who truly claims, from the heart, “I have never committed a sin,” is lying to themselves – and losing everything. Every moment of anger, every delay in fulfilling what Allah commands, every trace of pride – these are sins. But they are also opportunities for purification, When the hadith says “Allah will wipe them out,” it doesn’t mean sudden disappearance like a lightning strike. It means Allah removes them from His mercy, purpose, and favor. A person can be wiped out in faith – meaning they are still physically alive, but spiritually cut off. Arrogance makes them hollow — alive on earth, but already wiped out in the sight of Allah, Eventually, their appointed time will come – and when it does, they will be fully wiped out. That could happen through destruction, humiliation, or simply being replaced, This hadith is a reminder that sin is part of being human – but arrogance is not. Allah doesn’t expect perfection. He expects humility, repentance, and the willingness to return to Him again and again, And remember: this doesn’t give you a license to sin freely. It simply reminds you – you’re not God. Allah didn’t create you sinless. He gave you weakness so you’d recognize your limits and turn back to Him. So when someone says, “I’m pure, I never sin,” it’s as if they’re claiming a certificate from Allah that He never gave them, That kind of pride – that false belief of being above sin – is exactly what leads to being wiped out.
