Protection from Harm and Displeasure
📖Sahih Muslim 2739
Abdullah ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would supplicate, saying, “O Allah, I seek refuge in You from a decline in Your blessings, a change in the wellness You have provided, a sudden act of Your vengeance, and all things displeasing to You.
- This hadith emphasizes that seeking refuge in Allah glorifies Him and acknowledges His guidance.
- When a person asks Allah for protection, it reminds them to follow His commands, which in itself is a form of protection. For example:
-
Avoiding harmful actions like dishonesty, adultery, or oppression.
-
Maintaining patience during trials.
-
Helping others and upholding justice.
-
- Even if a person does not fully benefit from this remembrance, Allah can alter or either to protect them, give them something better in this life, or grant them reward in the Hereafter.
- Thus, supplication serves both as guidance for the believer and as a means of divine protection and mercy.
