Warning Against Deviation and Destruction

📖Sahih al-Bukhari 7058
Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard the truthful and trusted by Allah (i.e., the Prophet ﷺ) saying: “The destruction of my followers will be through the hands of young men from Quraish.”

Best Description:
This is a prophecy, not about the end of Islam – but about a period when the Muslim Ummah will suffer due to internal leadership failures. The Prophet ﷺ warned that certain young leaders from Quraish, though capable, would misuse or neglect their power. Their silence, selfishness, or mismanagement would cause division, chaos, and destruction among Muslims.

These individuals might have influence or armies, but instead of uniting the Ummah under justice and truth, they would prioritize political gain, causing bloodshed and civil collapse. However, this is not the end – it’s a test. Islam itself remains protected by Allah. The fall is of the Ummah’s unity, not its faith.

What We Learn Today:

  • This is a warning about corrupt leadership – not external enemies.
  • Islam will never be destroyed, but Muslims will suffer until they return to justice and true leadership.
  • Those in power who fail to unite the Ummah or remain passive during oppression become part of the destruction.
  • The Ummah’s revival requires true leadership, not just political control or lineage claims.

The Ultimate Hope – Mahdi and Jesus (Isa عليه السلام):
The Prophet ﷺ also foretold that after this period of suffering, Allah will send Imam Mahdi, a righteous leader from the lineage of the Prophet ﷺ, who will gather and unite the Muslims upon truth and justice. After him, Jesus son of Mary (Isa ibn Maryam عليه السلام) will descend and support this mission, destroying the false messiah (Dajjal) and establishing peace and true Tawheed across the earth.

This shows that although there will be times of hardship, Allah’s promise is clear – Islam will prevail through divine guidance and leadership.

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 61:9
It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over all religions, even though the disbelievers hate it.
This confirms that Islam will dominate, regardless of internal betrayal or external enemies.

Conclusion:
This hadith is a prophetic warning: the Ummah will suffer not due to lack of faith, but due to failure of internal leadership. Some from Quraish will cause destruction not because they lacked strength – but because they failed to use it for justice, But this darkness is temporary. The light of Mahdi and ‘Isa عليه السلام will soon rise, and Islam will stand victorious – just as the Qur’an has promised. Our role today is to recognize true leadership, reject hypocrisy, and prepare ourselves for unity, justice, and truth.
