The Importance of Following the Straight Path

📖Sahih al-Bukhari 7282
Narrated Hammam: Hudhaifa said, “O the Group of Al-Qurra! Follow the straight path, for then you have taken a great lead (and will be the leaders), but if you divert right or left, then you will go astray far away.”

Explanation:
Hudhaifa رضي الله عنه was addressing the Qurraa’ – those who recited and understood the Qur’an. He reminded them that their knowledge and position made them examples for others. But that leadership depends on one thing: staying on the straight path. Once they stray – whether due to pride, innovation, or worldly distractions – they don’t just lose their own way, but misguide others as well.

What we learn today:
– Knowledge of Qur’an is not enough if it’s not followed with upright action.
– People with knowledge, influence, or platform (even online) carry greater responsibility.
– Today, many who appear religious fall into extremes or political deviations, losing the straight path.
– True leadership in Islam is tied to istiqamah (steadfastness), not fame or eloquence.

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 6:153
“And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way. This has He instructed you that you may become righteous.”
→ The straight path is singular and clear. Following other ideologies, sects, or self-made opinions leads away from Allah.

📖Quran 41:30
“Indeed, those who have said, ‘Our Lord is Allah’ and then remained steadfast — the angels will descend upon them [saying], ‘Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised.’”
→ Steadfastness (istiqamah) is the key to both success and honor in the sight of Allah.
