The Best Muslims Learn and Teach the Quran
📖Sahih al-Bukhari 5027
Narrated `Uthman: The Prophet ﷺ said: “The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.”
Why does learning and teaching the Qur’an make someone the best among Muslims?
Because the Qur’an is not just a book – it is the guidance of Allah, the light for hearts, and the path to Paradise. When someone teaches the Qur’an, they are leading others to righteousness. And every time that student prays, remembers Allah, avoids sin, or teaches someone else – the teacher shares in that reward.
📖Sahih Muslim 1893a
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever guides someone to goodness will have a reward like the one who does it.”
→ This means if you teach someone the Qur’an, and they act upon it, you get the same reward as them – without it decreasing their reward in any way.
So when a person teaches the Qur’an, they’re not just spreading knowledge – they’re planting seeds of ongoing reward in people’s lives, families, and generations to come.
Quranic Context:
📖Quran 103:1-3
By time, indeed, mankind is in loss — Except those who believe and do righteous deeds and encourage one another to truth and encourage one another to patience.
→ The Qur’an is the truth. So those who learn and teach it are saving others from loss by spreading belief and righteous action.
📖Quran 16:125
Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best.
→ Teaching the Qur’an is an act of dawah – done with wisdom, kindness, and sincerity.
