Recite and ascend in Paradise with every verse
📖Sunan Ibn Mājah 3780
Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, It will be said to the companion of the Qur’an when he enters Paradise: ‘Recite and ascend!’ Thus, he will recite and ascend one level for each verse until he recites the last one with him.”
Explanation
This ḥadīth honors the true companion of the Qur’an – one who learns it, recites it, and lives according to its teachings. It does not mean that someone who memorizes the Qur’an but commits evil will enter Paradise. The Qur’an itself teaches that only believers who do righteous deeds will be admitted, and it warns about those who ignore its guidance.
📖Qur’an 2:82
“But they who believe and do righteous deeds – those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally.”
-
Faith and righteous action must go together for entry into Paradise.
📖Qur’an 45:23
“Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire, and Allah leaves him astray knowingly, sealing his hearing and his heart, and putting a cover on his vision? Who can guide him after Allah? Will you not then take heed?”
-
Knowing the truth but following desires leads to destruction.
