The Perfect Example of the Prophet Muhammad

📖Sahih Muslim 2309 d
Anas reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: I served the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) for nine years, and I do not know (of any instance) when he said to me: Why you have done this and that, and he never found fault with me in anything.

This hadith reflects the unmatched character of Prophet Muhammad ï·º. Despite having a young servant with him for nearly a decade, he never scolded or criticized him. This wasn’t because Anas never made mistakes — but because the Prophet ï·º chose patience, understanding, and gentle teaching over blame. It shows his wisdom in dealing with others, especially the young, where guidance was given with compassion, not with anger.

But this does not mean he ﷺ allowed or approved of every wrong action. There’s a difference between:

  • Mistakes made without intention
  • Lack of understanding due to age or inexperience
  • Wrong actions done openly and knowingly

In the case of the first two, the Prophet ﷺ showed mercy and corrected without harshness. But in the case of clear sins or wrongdoing, he took action with justice and fairness — as seen many times when companions were corrected or disciplined for deliberate faults.

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 3:159
And by the Mercy of Allah, you were gentle with them. Had you been harsh or hard-hearted, they would have dispersed from around you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in matters.

Gentleness builds love, not fear – the Prophet ï·º led with this principle.

📖Quran 16:125
Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best.

This is how he trained and taught even those who made mistakes – with wisdom, not humiliation.

📖Quran 9:71
The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong…

So yes, he corrected wrong – but with the best manners and timing, never with toxic blame. That’s leadership with heart.
