📖Sahih al-Bukhari 2076
Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “May Allah’s mercy be on him who is lenient in his buying, selling, and in demanding back his money.”

This Hadith highlights the Islamic spirit of kindness, fairness, and ease in transactions. The Prophet ﷺ is praising those who are not harsh or greedy in business dealings, whether buying, selling, or even collecting debts. Islam encourages a character that uplifts society, not one that crushes others for profit, This doesn’t mean one should let go of their rights, rather, it means to uphold your rights with gentleness, understanding, and dignity, avoiding arguments, pressure, and exploitation. Such people earn the mercy of Allah.
Real-World Application:
- A businessman gives fair prices, doesn’t lie or cheat.
- A seller doesn’t pressure someone to buy.
- A lender gives extra time for repayment.
- A buyer doesn’t insult or humiliate the seller.
- If someone is struggling financially, the creditor shows patience or forgives the debt.
This attitude builds trust, compassion, and unity in society.
Quranic Context:
📖Quran 2:280
“And if someone is in hardship, then [let there be] postponement until [a time of] ease. But if you give [from your right] as charity, then it is better for you — if you only knew.”
➡ Islam commands compassion for those in debt, forgiving or delaying repayment is rewarded.
📖Quran 83:1-3
“Woe to those who give less [than due]. Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. But if they give by measure or weight to them, they cause loss.”
➡ Warning against unfair trade. Islam condemns selfishness and double standards in transactions.

“O you who believe! Do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly, but only [in lawful] business by mutual consent.”
