Making Life Better for Others
📖Sahih al-Bukhari 6125
Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Make things easy for the people, and do not make it difficult for them, and make them calm (with glad tidings) and do not repulse (them).”
This hadith reflects the core principles of mercy and wisdom in Islam. The Prophet ﷺ was not only a spiritual guide but also a teacher of practical kindness. He taught his followers not to be harsh or overbearing, but to lead others toward Allah with ease, gentleness, and patience. Islam is a religion of balance, it doesn’t call for burdening others or forcing faith, but encourages understanding and gradual change through compassion.
✅ How to apply this hadith in real life:
- If someone is struggling to follow a command of Allah, do not shame or force them. Guide them gently, remind them with wisdom and love.
- If someone is new to Islam or weak in practice, give them time, support, and knowledge instead of criticizing them harshly.
- Help someone in need instead of judging them. Maybe they can’t pray, fast, or dress modestly due to deeper struggles, help them improve slowly.
- Spread positive reminders and words of hope, avoid constantly talking about punishment or hell.
- If someone made a mistake, don’t expose or attack them. Teach with humility, not superiority.
This approach brings people closer to Allah, while harshness pushes them away.
Quranic Context:
📖Quran 4:31
If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your lesser sins and admit you to a noble entrance [into Paradise].
This verse shows Allah’s mercy and understanding. Not every sin demands harsh punishment. If someone avoids major sins like adultery, murder, or public immorality, Allah promises to forgive their smaller mistakes. So Muslims should not treat every disobedience as a crime, guidance should be soft unless the act is public and extremely harmful, like rape, murder, or openly mocking Allah’s laws.
