Divine Recognition and Rewards
📖Sahih Muslim 1827
It has been narrated on the authority of ‘Abdullah b. ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah ï·º said: “Behold! The Dispensers of justice will be seated on pulpits of light beside Allah, on the right side of the Merciful — and both sides of Allah are equally honorable. These are those who are just in their rulings, with their families, and in all that they do.”
Description:
This hadith highlights the supreme status and reward of those who live by justice in every aspect of life. These individuals will be honored with a seat of distinction on pulpits of light, next to Allah Himself on the Day of Judgment, a symbol of ultimate nearness and divine favor. The hadith not only praises those in positions of authority who judge fairly but also extends this honor to anyone who practices justice, whether in leadership, family matters, or personal actions. It reaffirms that justice is not optional in Islam, it’s a core characteristic of the righteous, and it leads to immense reward in the Hereafter.
Lessons:
- Divine Recognition:
Sitting beside Allah on pulpits of light signifies immense honor. This reward is reserved for those who value fairness over favoritism, and truth over personal gain. - Closeness to Allah:
The phrase “on the right side of the Merciful” symbolizes special proximity to Allah, which reflects the elevated spiritual rank of the just. - Equality of Reward:
The hadith beautifully says both sides of Allah are right, showing that Allah’s justice is perfect and beyond human comparison. No bias, no favoritism — just pure fairness. - Justice in All Areas:
It’s not limited to courts or governance, justice must be upheld in rulings, family dealings, and every act. Islam demands comprehensive justice in public and private life.
Quranic Context:
📖Quran 4:58
Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which Allah instructs you. Indeed, Allah is ever Hearing and Seeing.
This verse makes it crystal clear: justice is a command from Allah, not a suggestion. Whether in leadership or daily dealings, justice is a divine responsibility.
📖Quran 5:8
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just — that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
This verse destroys any excuse to be unfair, even with enemies. It teaches that real piety is shown by how fair you are, even under pressure or conflict.
📖Quran 16:90
Indeed, Allah commands justice, good conduct, and giving to relatives, and forbids immorality, bad conduct, and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.
This is one of the most comprehensive commands, justice comes first, even before kindness. It shows how central justice is in Islam.
