Asked about life, knowledge, wealth, health

📖Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2417
Abu Barzah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The feet of a servant will not move on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked about his lifetime and how he used it, his knowledge and how he acted upon it, his wealth and from where he acquired it and how he spent it, and his body and how he exhausted it.”

This hadith gives a clear warning that every human will face accountability for four things on the Day of Judgment:

  1. How they spent their life.
  2. Whether they acted on the knowledge they had.
  3. How they earned and spent their wealth.
  4. How they used their body and strength.

Even though Allah already knows everything, this questioning is for the servant himself – so he cannot deny his deeds. It exposes the truth in front of him and removes excuses, making him admit his own actions. This makes judgment perfectly just, since people will see their records and confess with their own tongues.

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 18:49
And the record will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say, “Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?” And they will find what they did present before them. And your Lord does injustice to no one.

📖Quran 17:14
“Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant.”

📖Quran 36:65
That Day We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn.

📖Quran 99:7-8
So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.

For the believers, however, receiving the record will be an honor and a source of joy:

📖Quran 69:19-20
Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, “Here, read my record! Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account.” So he will be in a pleasant life.

📖Quran 84:7-9
So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will be judged with an easy account and return to his people in happiness.

But for those who rejected faith and lived in hypocrisy:

📖Quran 69:25-26
But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, “Oh, I wish I had not been given my record and had not known what is my account.”

📖Quran 84:10-12
But as for he who is given his record behind his back, he will cry out for destruction and burn in a Blaze.
