Allah Elevates the Humble

📖Sunan Ibn Mājah 4176
Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever humbles himself by a degree for Allah, glory be to Him, Allah will raise him by a degree. Whoever is arrogant to Allah by a degree, Allah will lower him by a degree until he is made ‘the lowest of the low.’”

This hadith teaches the profound value of humility before Allah and the danger of arrogance. Humbling oneself, even slightly, for Allah’s sake earns elevation and honor from Him. Conversely, arrogance, prideful behavior or ignoring Allah’s guidance, leads to being lowered in rank, both spiritually and in the sight of others. It reminds us that our attitude towards Allah directly affects our status in His eyes and encourages self-reflection in everyday actions.

  1. Practice humility in daily life: Speak gently, avoid showing off, and recognize Allah’s greatness in all matters.
  2. Acknowledge Allah’s role in your achievements: Give thanks for successes and blessings rather than boasting.
  3. Avoid arrogance and pride: Do not look down on others or behave arrogantly in your thoughts, words, or actions.
  4. Seek Allah’s guidance and forgiveness: Regularly ask Allah to keep your heart humble and free from pride.
  5. Remember Allah’s awareness: Even small acts of humility are noticed and rewarded by Allah, while arrogance has consequences.
