The Prophet’s Supplication for Healing

📖Sahih al-Bukhari 5743
Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to treat some of his wives by passing his right hand over the place of ailment and used to say: “O Allah, the Lord of the people! Remove the trouble and heal the patient, for You are the Healer. No healing is of any avail but Yours; healing that will leave behind no ailment.”

📖Sunan Abi Dawud 3874
“Allah has sent down the disease and the cure, and He has appointed a cure for every disease, so treat yourselves medically.”

Understanding the Hadith: How Does Allah Cure?

📖Surah Ash-Shu’ara (26:80)
“And when I am ill, it is He (Allah) who cures me.”

Some may ask: If doctors and medicine help in curing, then how does Allah cure? The answer is that Allah is the true source of all healing, while doctors and medicine are only means created by Him.

Doctors, Medicine, and Healing Are All His Creation

  • Doctors exist because Allah created them and gave them knowledge.
  • Medicine works because Allah created the ingredients found in nature.
  • The human body fights diseases because Allah designed the immune system.

📖Surah Al-Baqarah (2:255)
“He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills.”
🔹 All medical knowledge that humans discover exists only because Allah allows it.

Even With the Best Medicine, Healing Only Happens by Allah’s Will
  • Many people take medicine but do not recover.
  • Some people recover without medicine.
  • This proves that healing does not come from medicine alone but from Allah allowing it to work.

📖Surah Yunus (10:107)
“And if Allah should touch you with adversity, none can remove it except Him…”
🔹 Even if the best doctors treat someone, they will not heal unless Allah wills.

📖 Sahih al-Bukhari 5743
“The Prophet (ﷺ) used to pass his right hand over the place of ailment and say: ‘O Allah, the Lord of the people! Remove the trouble and heal the patient, for You are the Healer. No healing is of any avail but Yours; healing that will leave behind no ailment.’”

🔹 Allah is the true Healer because He created the causes of healing.
🔹 Doctors, medicine, and the body’s healing system are all His creations.
🔹 No cure exists except that Allah created it and allowed it to work.
🔹 Using medicine is required, but trust should always be in Allah.

📖Surah Al-Mulk (67:15)
“It is He who made the earth manageable for you—so walk in its paths and eat from His provision.”
🔹 This means we must take action (such as using medicine), but Allah is the true Provider of all solutions. Healing happens through doctors and medicine, but the One who made these things possible is Allah.
