Abandoning False Speech and Evil Actions

📖Sahih al-Bukhari 1903
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e., Allah will not accept his fasting).”

Understanding the Hadith

🔹 This hadith highlights that fasting is not just about staying hungry and thirsty—it is about purifying one’s speech, actions, and character.
🔹 If a person continues to lie, cheat, backbite, or engage in sinful behavior while fasting, their fasting loses its value in the eyes of Allah.
🔹 The purpose of fasting is self-discipline and spiritual growth, and without proper conduct, it becomes an empty ritual rather than an act of devotion.

What If Someone Sins Due to Ignorance?

🔹 Mistakes made out of ignorance are not the same as deliberate evil.
🔹 If a person does something wrong unknowingly, it is not an intentional act of disobedience but rather a lack of knowledge or awareness.
🔹 Islam acknowledges that humans are not perfect, and mistakes made due to ignorance do not invalidate the fast. However, learning and improving is essential.

Qur’anic Context:

📖Surah Al-Baqarah 2:286
“Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we forget or make a mistake…”
🔹 Allah does not hold people accountable for unintentional mistakes, He judges based on intention and effort.

📖Surah Az-Zumar 39:53
“Say, ‘O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.’”
🔹 Even if a person sins, Allah’s mercy is always open for those who repent and try to improve
