Allah gives no weight to worldly status
📖Sahih al-Bukhari 4729, Sahih Muslim 2785
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Verily, a prominent and obese man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection who does not weigh as much as a gnat’s wing to Allah. Recite the verse: Thus, We will not give them any weight on the Day of Resurrection.” (Quran 18:105).
Description:
This hadith shows that worldly appearance, size, or fame holds no value before Allah if a person lacks faith and sincerity. Even a man who appears strong and honored in this world can be weightless in the sight of Allah on the Day of Judgment if his deeds are corrupt.
It does not mean Allah predestined a man to be this way. Rather, the Prophet ﷺ, inspired by Allah, described what happens when a person chooses arrogance, hypocrisy, and sin. The example is timeless: it applied then and still applies today to anyone who seeks honor in dunya but neglects faith and righteous deeds.
Lessons for Today:
- Worldly status, wealth, or physical form do not matter to Allah – only faith and sincerity give weight to our deeds.
- Choosing hypocrisy and arrogance leads to being worthless on the Day of Judgment.
- True honor is not in appearance but in taqwa and obedience to Allah.
- Quranic Context:
📖Quran 18:105
They are those who deny the signs of their Lord and the meeting with Him, so their deeds are in vain, and We will not give them any weight on the Day of Resurrection.
📖Quran 49:13
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Verily, the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.
📖Quran 7:8-9
The weighing on that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy — it is they who will succeed. But those whose scales are light — it is they who will lose themselves for they wronged Our signs.
