The Unique Perspective of a Believer

📖Sahih Muslim 2999
Suhaib reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said:
“Strange are the ways of a believer, for there is good in every affair of his, and this is not the case with anyone else except in the case of a believer. If he experiences happiness, he thanks (Allah), and there is good for him in it. If he faces hardship and shows patience, there is good for him in it.”

Explanation:

This hadith highlights the unique mindset of a true believer—one who finds goodness in every situation, whether in ease or difficulty.

🔹 Gratitude in Blessings: When a believer receives happiness, success, or any form of blessing, they recognize it as a favor from Allah and express gratitude. This gratitude increases their reward and strengthens their faith.

🔹 Patience in Hardship: When faced with difficulties, a believer does not despair or lose hope. Instead, they remain patient, knowing that every hardship carries wisdom and potential rewards from Allah.

🔹 Faith and Perspective: Unlike others who may complain or become hopeless in adversity, a believer trusts in Allah’s plan. Whether through gratitude or patience, they turn every situation into an opportunity for spiritual growth.

Qur’anic Context & Clarification:

📖Surah Al-Baqarah 2:155
“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient.”
🔹 This verse does not mean that Allah directly forces people into poverty or suffering. Rather, it indicates that life naturally includes challenges, some caused by human injustice and others by natural circumstances. These tests reveal who remains patient and who helps those in need.

📖Surah Al-Baqarah 2:286
“Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear…”
🔹 Hardship is not necessarily from Allah but often results from human actions.

📖Surah Al-Balad 90:11-16
“But he has not attempted the steep path. And what will make you know what the steep path is? It is freeing a slave, or feeding on a day of severe hunger, an orphan near of kin, or a poor person in distress.”

🔹If Allah simply wanted people to suffer, He would not command others to help them. This proves that hardship often exists because people fail their test of generosity.

📖Surah At-Tawbah 9:103
“Take from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them to increase, and invoke blessings upon them.”

🔹 Zakat (charity) is obligatory to prevent extreme poverty—it is not Allah who forces suffering, but people who fail to share wealth properly.

📖Surah An-Nisa 4:79
“Whatever good befalls you is from Allah, but whatever evil befalls you is from yourself…”
🔹 Suffering is often caused by human neglect, oppression, or greed—not by Allah wanting people to suffer.

📖Surah Ar-Rum 30:41
“Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what people’s hands have earned, so He may let them taste part of what they have done, that they might return (to righteousness).”
🔹 Many hardships arise because humans fail to uphold justice and kindness.

Hardship Is Not About Being Poor-Islam Commands Helping the Poor:

📖Surah Al-Ma’un 107:1-3
“Have you seen the one who denies the religion? That is the one who repels the orphan and does not encourage feeding the poor.”
🔹 If poverty was Allah’s will, He would not command people to help the poor. Poverty exists because of human negligence, not divine decree.

📖Surah Al-Isra 17:26-27
“Give to the relative his right, as well as the poor and the traveler, and do not spend wastefully. Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils…”
🔹 Islam commands wealth distribution—poverty persists when humans hoard wealth instead of sharing.

📖Surah Al-Hashr 59:7
“…so that wealth may not circulate only among the rich among you…”
🔹 Allah does not create social inequality, humans do, by hoarding wealth instead of helping those in need.

How This Connects to Human Responsibility:

📖Surah Al-Fajr 89:15-16
“As for man, when his Lord tests him and honors him and blesses him, he says, ‘My Lord has honored me.’ But when He tests him and restricts his provision, he says, ‘My Lord has humiliated me.’”

🔹 Being rich is not a sign of Allah’s favor, and being poor is not a sign of Allah’s punishment. People misunderstand tests when they assume Allah has abandoned them in hardship.

📖Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:48
“For each of you, We have prescribed a law and a clear way. If Allah had willed, He could have made you one nation (following one religion), but He tests you in what He has given you. So race to do good…”

🔹 Allah allows different conditions in life as tests of human character, whether we respond with gratitude, patience, and charity.

Wealth Is a Test, Not a Privilege or Curse:

📖Surah Al-Anfal 8:28
“And know that your wealth and your children are only a trial (fitnah), and that with Allah is a great reward.”
🔹 Wealth is a test—will a person use it for good or hoard it selfishly?

📖Surah Al-Tawbah 9:55
“So do not be impressed by their wealth or children. Allah only intends to punish them through these things in this world, and their souls will depart while they are disbelievers.”
🔹 Having wealth does not mean Allah is pleased with someone, it can be a test that leads to arrogance and punishment.

📖Surah Al-Taghabun 64:15
“Your wealth and your children are only a test, but with Allah is a tremendous reward.”
🔹 The real test is how people use their wealth, whether they give charity or hoard it.
