Belief in the Oneness of Allah and Entry into Paradise

📖Sahih Muslim 26a
It is narrated on the authority of ‘Uthman that the Messenger of Allah (ï·º) said: “He who died knowing (fully well) that there is no god but Allah entered Paradise.”

This hadith highlights the importance of Tawheed (the Oneness of Allah)—the foundation of faith in Islam. However, belief alone is not enough if a person continuously commits major sins without repentance. Islam does not teach that simply saying “La ilaha illallah” while committing evil acts guarantees entry into Paradise. True faith is reflected in actions, obedience, and avoiding major sins.

Faith, Deeds, and Allah’s Mercy: The Path to Paradise

📖Sunan Abi Dawud 4801
Harithah b. Wahab reported that the Messenger of Allah (ï·º) said:
“Neither the Jawwaz nor the Jazari will enter Paradise.”
(Jawwaz refers to a coarse and uncivil person.)

This hadith shows that bad character and evil actions can prevent a person from entering Jannah, even if they claim to believe in Allah. Islam is not just about belief—it is about submission, obedience, and righteousness.

📖Sahih al-Bukhari 5673 | Sahih Muslim 2816
The Prophet (ï·º) said:
“No one will enter Paradise by their deeds alone.”
The companions asked, “Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?”
He replied, “Not even me, unless Allah grants me His mercy. So be moderate and seek closeness (to Allah), and no one should wish for death because of hardship.”

🔹 This Hadith clarifies that good deeds alone are not enough for entry into Jannah—it is Allah’s mercy that ultimately grants Paradise. However, good deeds are the means through which we seek Allah’s mercy, as they reflect our obedience and sincerity.

Major Sins That Lead a Person to Hell

Islam has clearly defined certain sins that, if committed without repentance, can lead to Hellfire:

📖Surah An-Nur 24:2
“The woman and the man guilty of fornication – flog each one of them with a hundred lashes. Do not let pity for them make you lenient in enforcing Allah’s law if you truly believe in Allah and the Last Day.”
🔹 Zina (adultery and fornication) is a major sin with clear punishment.

📖Sahih Muslim 1695
A man came to the Prophet (ï·º) and said: “O Messenger of Allah, I have committed zina.” The Prophet turned away from him. The man repeated his confession four times, and only after verifying his sanity and that he understood the consequences did the Prophet order the punishment.

  1. The Prophet (ï·º) did not rush to implement the punishment immediately. Instead, he turned away multiple times, giving the man a chance to retract his confession.

  2. Only after four confessions did the Prophet consider the legal ruling.

  3. This shows that Islamic law does not rush into executing severe punishments without careful examination.

📖Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:32
“Whoever kills a soul unless for a legal cause, it is as if he has killed all of humanity. And whoever saves one life, it is as if he has saved all of humanity.”
🔹 Murder is one of the gravest sins in Islam.

📖Surah An-Nisa 4:93
“And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him, and has cursed him, and has prepared for him a great punishment.”
🔹 This verse proves that not all sins are forgiven just by faith – some actions can lead to eternal Hell.

📖Surah Al-Hujurat 49:12
“Do not spy, nor backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would detest it!”
🔹 Backbiting and slander are serious sins that lead to Hell if not repented for.

Cherry-Picking Hadith Leads to Misguidance

Some people misuse hadiths to justify evil actions, thinking that belief in Allah alone will save them while committing sins freely. This is a false understanding.

✅ Faith in Allah must be backed by good deeds, sincere repentance, and avoidance of major sins.
✅ Sins like rape, adultery, oppression, murder, and arrogance are severe crimes that lead a person to Hell.
✅ One cannot say “I believe in Allah” while harming others and expect automatic entry into Jannah.

Both Sahih Muslim 26a and Sunan Abi Dawud 4801 must be understood together. Faith is the foundation, but actions determine the outcome. True believers strive to avoid sin, seek forgiveness, and follow Allah’s commands—not just claim faith while committing evil.
