Hadith on Exclusion from Paradise
📖Sunan Abi Dawud 4801 Harithah b. Wahab reported the Messenger of Allah (ï·º) as saying: “Neither the Jawwaz nor the Jazari will enter Paradise.” (He said that the Jawwaz refers to a person who is coarse, harsh, and uncivil.)
Understanding the Hadith:
-
The Meaning of “Jawwaz” and “Jazari”:
-
The word Jawwaz refers to someone who is harsh, rude, and lacks good manners, often treating others with arrogance and cruelty.
-
Jazari has been interpreted as a person who is harsh in speech and actions, particularly towards others.
-
The hadith warns that people with such characteristics may be deprived of Paradise unless they repent and reform their behavior.
-
-
Islam’s Emphasis on Good Character:
Islam strongly emphasizes good manners, humility, and kindness in dealing with others. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) repeatedly taught that a believer’s behavior is a key factor in their success in the Hereafter.🔹 Quranic Reference:
-
Surah Al-Qalam (68:4): “And indeed, you (O Muhammad) are of a great moral character.”
-
This verse highlights the noble character of the Prophet (ï·º) as a role model for all Muslims.
🔹 Hadith:
-
Prophet Muhammad (ï·º) said: “The heaviest thing to be placed in a person’s scale on the Day of Judgment is good character.” (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2002)
-
This reinforces that a person’s manners and behavior play a major role in determining their fate in the Hereafter.

Avoid Harshness: Islam does not tolerate arrogance, rudeness, or oppression. Speaking harshly and treating others with disrespect can lead to spiritual downfall.
-
Strive for Good Manners: The Prophet (ﷺ) was known for his patience, kindness, and humility. Following his example helps a believer earn Allah’s pleasure and mercy.
-
Repentance and Change: Those who struggle with harshness in speech and behavior should seek forgiveness and actively work on improving their character.
