dua for every need

📖Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3604j
Thabit Al-Bunani narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Let one of you ask his Lord for his every need, until he asks Him for salt, and asks Him for the strap of his sandal when it breaks.”

  • This hadith from Jami` at-Tirmidhi encourages believers to make du’a (supplication) to Allah for all their needs, no matter how small they may seem. The Prophet (ﷺ) is indicating that nothing is too insignificant to ask Allah for, even something as small as salt or a broken strap of a sandal, This hadith highlights the idea of complete dependence on Allah and the importance of turning to Him for everything, whether big or small. It also emphasizes the vastness of Allah’s mercy and generosity, as He is willing to listen to and grant even the most seemingly trivial requests of His servants, However, this does not mean that making du’a is the same as begging. Even if a person does not ask, things will still happen according to Allah’s will. Rather, making du’a is a form of glorifying Allah, acknowledging His power, and recognizing that He alone is the ultimate provider. It strengthens our relationship with Him and serves as an act of worship, showing humility and trust in His wisdom.
