Satan steals from the servant’s prayer

📖Sahih al-Bukhari 718
Aisha reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about fidgeting in the prayer. The Prophet said, “It is theft by which Satan steals from the prayer of a servant.”

Description:
The Prophet ﷺ explained that unnecessary movements in prayer take away from its humility and focus, as if Satan steals from one’s worship. Satan is not only the unseen devil, but humans can also act as agents of Satan when they whisper evil, distract others, and encourage neglect. Yet, their whispers also originate from Iblis, who plants evil suggestions in the heart, leading humans to bad deeds. A believer should strive for khushūʿ (concentration) in prayer and resist these distractions.

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 7:200
And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing.

📖Quran 114:4-6
From the evil of the retreating whisperer, who whispers into the hearts of mankind, from among jinn and mankind.

📖Quran 41:36
And if you are tempted by a whisper from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
