No One Can Rival Allah’s Might and Grandeur

📖Sahih Muslim 2620
Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Allah Almighty says that might is His garment and grandeur is His cloak: Whoever competes with Me, I will punish him.

This hadith conveys the words of Allah Himself, not the personal opinion of the Prophet ﷺ. Allah says: “Might is My garment and grandeur is My cloak,” meaning that true power, authority, and majesty belong solely to Him. Just as a garment or cloak belongs exclusively to its owner, no one can legitimately claim these divine attributes, To “compete” with Allah refers to arrogance, pride, and attempting to claim rights, power, or attributes that belong only to Allah – such as denying His commands, oppressing others, or elevating oneself as if equal to the Creator. Such behavior is rebellion against the One who created all existence.

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 31:18
And do not turn your face away from people in arrogance, nor walk in insolence upon the earth. Surely, Allah does not like anyone self-deluded and boastful.

📖Quran 16:23
Indeed, Allah does not like the arrogant and the boastful.

📖Quran 40:35
Those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without any authority given to them—great is the hatred of Allah and of those who believe. Thus Allah seals the heart of every arrogant tyrant.

📖Quran 7:146
I will turn away from My signs those who are arrogant upon the earth without right; and if they see every sign, they will not believe in it.

Allah alone has true might and grandeur. Arrogance and attempting to compete with Allah in His qualities or authority is a grave sin. The punishment for such pride comes because it is direct rebellion against the Creator, while humility and submission to Allah protect a believer from this dang
