Perform Voluntary Prayers at Home
đSahih Muslim 778
Jabir reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, âWhen one of you finishes the prayer in his mosque, let him perform a portion of his prayer in his house. Verily, Allah will bring about good from his prayer in his house.
This hadith encourages believers to continue worship at home after praying in the mosque. Performing a portion of prayer at home spreads blessings into the household and strengthens the spiritual environment.
What âGood Cameâ Means:
- Reminder of Allah: The person praying at home continues to remember Allah, keeping His presence alive in the household.
- Family Guidance: Seeing the prayer, family members may also remember Allah, follow His guidance, and adopt righteous habits.
- Good Arises Naturally: The âgoodâ mentioned in the hadith refers to this spiritual benefit – a home filled with remembrance of Allah and guidance. The blessing comes through the prayer leading to awareness of Allah, not by magic.
- Credit Goes to Allah: All the positive change, harmony, and guidance are ultimately from Allah, while the personâs prayer is the means.
Practical Lesson Today:
- After mosque prayers, perform extra units of prayer at home or recite Qurâan.
- Encourage family members to remember Allah alongside you.
- By doing so, goodness naturally fills the home, drawing everyone closer to Allah and His guidance.
Quranic Context:
đQuran 33:41-42
O you who have believed, remember Allah with much remembrance, And glorify Him morning and evening.
(This emphasizes continuous remembrance of Allah, which includes voluntary prayers and dhikr.)
