It is important to note that in the Quran, Allah reveals His own words and teachings, as well as the words and actions of various historical figures such as prophets, kings, and ordinary people. The purpose of including these stories is to provide examples of the consequences of different choices and behaviors, as well as to show how believers can remain steadfast in their faith in the face of adversity.

Where Are Pharaoh and His Soldiers?

📖Quran 40:46
The Fire; they are exposed to it, morning and evening, and the Day the Hour appears (it will be said), ‘Make Pharaoh’s people enter the severest punishment.

The people who followed him are suffering in the grave or wherever they are buried, their souls in suffering. Based on this verse, a person can be burned or in the grave, but they can even enter Hell before the Day of Judgment, depending on the crimes they committed in this world. However, most people’s souls remain in suffering, as mentioned in the hadith of Prophet Muhammad. Based on these Qur’anic verse, it is also proven that a person can enter Hell before the Day of Judgment. It depends on the actions we performed in this world, In the case of Pharaoh and his soldiers, it implies that their suffering is constant and unceasing, without any break, just as time moves continuously from morning to evening in the earthly realm. It is a way for human beings to grasp the severity and eternity of their torment, even though God’s perception of time is beyond human comprehension. So, while morning and evening applies to human understanding, the actual nature of their punishment is eternal and does not adhere to the human concept of time.

In Quran 22:47, it is mentioned that a day of Allah, in terms of His reckoning, is like a thousand years of what we count. This signifies that the perception of time in the divine realm differs from that of the human experience. The verse highlights that the span of time in the hereafter, whether it relates to Paradise or Hell—is not constrained by our earthly understanding. There are various mentions of time in the Quran, each offering a perspective on the afterlife and the world of the angels. For instance, in the case of the angels, it is stated that they may experience time differently, as shown in Quran 70:4, where it mentions that the angels ascend towards Allah in a manner that would take 50,000 years in human reckoning. The idea is that in the divine realm, time may be compressed or extended based on Allah’s will. For example, what might feel like a day or a moment in the heavenly realm could be thousands of years from our perspective, and vice versa. This might explain why, in Hell, the torment can feel magnified, as a single day there could feel like a thousand years. The concept of time in the Quran is not based on the same measurement we use in the physical universe. Rather, it is a divine system, where time operates based on the eternal wisdom of Allah, and it can shift depending on the situation or the realm—be it the afterlife, the world of angels, or human existence. Thus, these references remind us that the divine is beyond human comprehension and that the notion of time is a reflection of Allah’s power over all creation. It’s also important to note that there are no verses in the Qur’an that use the term ‘one thousand years’ to say that God created the universe based on this time. Rather, this time is used to refer to the time periods of Hell and Heaven. The Qur’an does not say that Allah created the universe in a span equivalent to a thousand years, nor does it imply that the entire creation is structured around this time frame. Rather, it uses the concept of ‘a day of your Lord’ being like a thousand years of what we count to indicate the vast difference in the perception of time between our world and the divine realm. It shows how Allah’s time is not bound by the same rules or measurements that govern our understanding of time, such as the physical concept of time dilation we observe in our universe.

This concept is related to the way time behaves differently based on relative speed or gravity, but it’s not directly applicable to the Quranic reference.
