Salutation at the End of Prayer

📖Sahih Muslim 592 a
A’isha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: When the Messenger of Allah ï·º ended his prayer, his final supplication would be longer than the time it took to say: “O Allah, You are Peace, and peace comes from You. Blessed are You, O Possessor of Glory and Honour.”

This shows the humility and gratitude of the Prophet ﷺ even after prayer. He wouldn’t just end it quickly, instead, he would glorify Allah with a beautiful dua full of reverence, recognizing Allah as the source of all peace (As-Salaam) and majesty (Dhul-Jalali wal-Ikram).

What We Learn from This Hadith:

  1. Allah is the source of peace, true tranquility comes only from Him.
  2. Ending prayer with remembrance strengthens the connection with Allah and brings spiritual calm.
  3. The Prophet ï·º used short, meaningful, and deep supplications that can be memorized and practiced by anyone.
  4. We should not rush after prayer, but take a moment to praise Allah and reflect on His greatness.
  5. It teaches the etiquette of ending worship: with humility, glorification, and peace.

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 59:23
He is Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Source of Peace, the Giver of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.
Allah is described as As-Salaam, the One who gives peace and safety.

📖Quran 10:10
Their call therein will be, “Exalted are You, O Allah,” and their greeting therein will be, “Peace.” And the last of their call will be, “Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds!”
In Paradise, peace will be the eternal greeting, just as Allah is the source of it in the dunya (world).

📖Quran 55:27
But the Face of your Lord, full of Majesty and Honour, will remain.
This matches the Prophet’s praise: “Blessed are You, O Possessor of Glory and Honour.”

This hadith reminds us that worship is not just about the ritual, but about the spiritual state of the heart. Recognizing Allah as the Source of Peace helps us seek serenity in difficult times, and praising His Majesty after prayer is a sign of sincere faith.
