Peace and Benevolent Acts
📖Sunan al-Tirmidhi 1855
Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Worship the Most Merciful, feed the poor, and spread peace. You will enter Paradise in peace.”
This hadith gives a simple but powerful formula for salvation. It highlights three pillars of righteous character in Islam:
- Worshiping Allah (Ar-Rahman) – focusing on His mercy and loving devotion.
- Feeding the poor – generosity, charity, and social care.
- Spreading peace – both with greetings (salam) and through peaceful behavior.
The reward for this way of life is promised: entry into Paradise with peace, without fear, punishment, or hardship.
What We Learn Today:
- Islam is not just about ritual worship; it’s deeply rooted in compassion and social action.
- Feeding others is a major act of goodness in Islam, whether through charity or hospitality.
- Saying “As-salamu alaikum” and promoting unity and safety among people is a sign of faith.
- The Prophet ﷺ taught that living with mercy, generosity, and peace brings Allah’s mercy in return — both in this life and the next.
Quranic Context:
📖Quran 2:195
And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.
Feeding the poor and spreading peace are among the highest forms of doing good.
📖Quran 76:8-9
And they give food, in spite of love for it, to the needy, the orphan, and the captive. [Saying], “We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.”
Feeding others sincerely for Allah’s sake is a sign of the righteous.
📖Quran 13:24
Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home.
Those who live in peace and patience are greeted with peace in Paradise.
This hadith is a reminder that Islam is not complicated. Worship Allah with sincerity, help those in need, and treat others with peace, and Paradise will meet you with peace.
