Belief in Allah, Muhammad, and Jesus

📖 Sahih al-Bukhari 3435
Narrated ‘Ubada ibn as-Samit: The Prophet ﷺ said: “If anyone testifies that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone, Who has no partners, and that Muhammad is His Servant and His Messenger, and that Jesus is Allah’s Servant and His Messenger and His Word which He bestowed upon Mary and a Spirit created by Him, and that Paradise is true, and Hell is true, Allah will admit him into Paradise with the deeds he had done, even if those deeds were few.”
Junada (sub-narrator) said:

‘Ubada added: “Such a person may enter Paradise through any of its eight gates he likes.”

Explanation:

This hadith confirms that belief, even with few good deeds, can lead to Paradise if it is sincere and based on correct understanding.

It highlights key beliefs that form the foundation of Islamic creed:

  1. Tawheed, Testifying that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah with no partners.
  2. Finality of Prophethood, Believing that Muhammad is the Servant and Messenger of Allah, which automatically includes belief in all previous prophets, including Jesus.
Accepting Muhammad ﷺ means accepting the Qur’an, which confirms the truth about Jesus.

Jesus: Word and Spirit from Allah

The hadith mentions Jesus in three distinct roles:

  1. “His Servant and His Messenger” – Not divine, not the son of God, but a pure prophet and worshipper of Allah.
  2. “His Word which He bestowed on Mary”
➤ This refers to the divine command “Be (كن)”, the same as Adam was created. Jesus was created without a father by Allah’s Word (command).📖Quran 3:59
Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created him from dust; then He said to him, “Be,” and he was.
  3. “And a Spirit from Him”
➤ This means Jesus was directly created by Allah, like Adam, as a chosen servant, with a pure soul created by Allah, not that he is part of Allah.📖Quran 4:171
Jesus, the son of Mary, was nothing but a Messenger of Allah, His Word which He directed to Mary, and a Spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His Messengers, and do not say “Three”  stop, it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is One God. Exalted is He above having a son.
Testifying to Muhammad ﷺ Includes Belief in Jesus

When someone sincerely says:

“Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah”,
they are also accepting:

  • All previous Prophets (Jesus, Moses, etc.)
  • The truth about Jesus revealed in the Qur’an:
➤ That he was not crucified, not divine, and that he will return before the Hour.

📖Quran 3:84
Say: We believe in Allah and in what was revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the descendants, and what was given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit.

 Summary:
  • Paradise is guaranteed for the one who sincerely believes in:
    → Allah with no partners
→ Muhammad ﷺ as the final Messenger
→ Jesus as the servant, Messenger, Word (command), and Spirit created by Allah
→ That Paradise and Hell are real

Such a believer may enter through any of the eight gates of Paradise, a great honor, This belief confirms that Jesus is honored, but not divine. He is a miraculous creation of Allah, just like Adam, created by the Word “Be”. Believing in Allah, Muhammad ﷺ as His final Messenger, and the true nature of Jesus is essential for Paradise, as the hadith says. But this does not mean that committing crimes or sinful acts will lead to Heaven simply because you believed.

You must also:

  • Avoid stealing
  • Not harm your neighbors knowingly
  • Respect your parents
  • Not spread hatred
  • Not kill, rape, or commit any injustice

These actions are major sins and can lead a person to Hell, even if they believe.

Justice and Punishment

  • True belief must be accompanied by righteous deeds and avoiding sin.
  • If a believer sins seriously, they may still enter Paradise but only after being tested and punished for their sins.
  • Some may face temporary punishment in Hell before being admitted to Paradise.
  • However, eternal Hell is for those who reject faith completely or persist in disbelief, or those who never truly believed but only claimed it without knowledge or good deeds.
Summary

Belief is the foundation, but it must be combined with good character, obedience, and avoiding major sins, Paradise is for those who believe and do good, not for those who commit crimes while relying only on belief.
