The Greatest Miracle of The Prophet
📖Sahih al-Bukhari 7274
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “There was no prophet among the prophets but was given miracles because of which people had security or had belief, but what I was given was the Divine Inspiration which Allah revealed to me. So I hope that my followers will be more than those of any other prophet on the Day of Resurrection.
This hadith highlights a powerful reality: while previous prophets were given visible, time-bound miracles like splitting the sea, reviving the dead, or healing the blind, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was given a timeless, intellectual, and living miracle: the Qur’an.
Now, someone might ask: “But isn’t the Qur’an from Allah? How can it be the Prophet’s miracle?
Here’s the answer: All miracles given to prophets were from Allah – but they’re attributed to the prophets as signs of their truthfulness. For example:
- Moses split the sea, by Allah’s power, but it was his miracle.
- Jesus healed the blind, by Allah’s permission, but it was his miracle.
- Prophet Muhammad was given the Qur’an, by Allah’s revelation, and it is his miracle.
So, the Qur’an is called the miracle of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ because:
-
It was revealed to him
📖Quran 53:4
It is but a revelation revealed. -
It served as his proof and sign
Just as earlier miracles proved a prophet’s truth, the Qur’an was the evidence of Muhammad’s ﷺ truthfulness. -
It challenged his opponents
In a society proud of poetry and language, they could not produce anything like the Qur’an:
📖Quran 2:23
And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah like it and call your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful. -
It remains eternal and unchanged
Other miracles were seen and passed. The Qur’an is recited, memorized, and transforming lives today.
Why the Qur’an Is the Greatest Miracle:
- Unmatched Knowledge: It reveals details about the universe, creation, and human nature that were unknown at that time.
- Unrivaled Language: Its style, rhythm, and depth remain impossible to imitate.
- Spiritual Transformation: It turned the most corrupt societies into models of justice and morality.
- Preserved Word-for-Word: Unlike other scriptures, the Qur’an remains exactly as it was revealed.
Quranic Context:
📖Quran 29:51
Is it not enough for them that We have sent down to you the Book which is recited to them? Surely in that is a mercy and reminder for people who believe.
📖Quran 17:88
Say, “If mankind and jinn gathered together to produce the like of this Qur’an, they could not produce anything like it — even if they were to each assist the other.”
📖Quran 41:53
We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not enough that your Lord is a Witness over all things?
What We Learn Today:
The miracles of previous prophets came and went. But the Qur’an, the miracle of Muhammad ﷺ, is still here, unchanged, recited, and guiding billions. It invites you not just to read it, but to reflect and witness the living miracle yourself. This is why the Prophet ﷺ said he hoped his followers would be the most, because his miracle is the most accessible, preserved, and powerful one ever given.
