Allah’s Mercy Overpowers His Anger

📖Sahih al-Bukhari 3194
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said: “When Allah completed the creation, He wrote in His Book which is with Him on His Throne: ‘My Mercy overpowers My Anger.’”

Description:

This Hadith reveals a divine truth – that Allah’s Mercy is always greater than His Anger. But don’t misunderstand it with human emotions. His “anger” isn’t a burst of rage. It’s not from the created world like ours. Allah’s Anger means His divine response to rebellion, not an emotional reaction like humans, His anger comes only when His commands are rejected, and even then, He gives space, chances, and signs. He doesn’t rush punishment. But when He does act, it’s justice, not uncontrolled rage, And when it says “Allah wrote in His Book” – it doesn’t mean a literal notebook like humans. This is a divine register – something beyond time and material – written by Allah for Himself, not for us. It shows His will is stable, known, and unchanging. It was never written for Him to “remember” – He forgets nothing.

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 6:12
Say: To whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth? Say: To Allah. He has decreed upon Himself mercy. He will surely assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt.
Allah decreed mercy upon Himself – no one forced Him. He did it out of His own perfection and choice.

📖Quran 7:156
My mercy encompasses all things. But I will specify it for those who fear Me and give zakah and those who believe in Our verses.
Mercy is available for all, but it’s reserved in full for those who obey.

📖Quran 85:22
In a Preserved Tablet.
This confirms Allah has a divine record – not made of paper, not like human books. It’s beyond what we can imagine -part of the unseen (al-Lawh al-Mahfuz), where everything is written by Him, not for Him.

Is Everything Written by Allah?

Yes – everything is written, including:

  • Your birth
  • Your actions
  • Your tests
  • Your choices
  • Your ending

But just because it’s written doesn’t mean everything is forced. It means

Allah already knew and stored all the paths you’ll take – including if you’ll choose to die as a believer or disbeliever.

Free Will and Predestination

Master Record: Includes All Possibilities

When Allah created the Pen, He commanded it:

📖Sunan Abi Dawud 4700
“The first thing created by Allah was the Pen. He said to it: ‘Write!’ It said: ‘What should I write?’ He said: ‘Write everything that will happen until the Day of Judgment.’”

✅ So both your evil and good paths are written.

  • The Pen is created by Allah
  • It is not known to man
  • It functions by command, not by pressure or ink
  • It understood Allah’s order and began writing what was destined

This proves the power of divine command – something that needs no programming, no charging, no parts – just “Be” and it is.

📖Quran 36:82
“His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.”

This is not a tool made in China, This is a heavenly device, unknown in shape, understood only by purpose – and that purpose is to record destiny by the will of the One who owns it all.

You Still Have Free Will

📖Quran 76:3
“Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or ungrateful.”

This means:
Allah gave you the option to follow the right path or ignore it.
Both paths exist – you pick one, and that becomes the life you live.

Divine Book = Not Forcing You

Imagine the database again:

  • It contains “If he chooses good, this will happen.”
  • And also “If he chooses evil, this will happen.”

So when Allah wrote it all down:

  • He didn’t force the outcome.
  • He just knew what you’d pick.

📖Quran 18:29
“And say: ‘The truth is from your Lord.’ So whoever wills – let him believe; and whoever wills – let him disbelieve.”

Quranic Context:

📖Quran 13:39
“Allah eliminates what He wills or confirms, and with Him is the Mother of the Book.”

📖Quran 36:12
“Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they have put forth and what they left behind. And We have enumerated everything in a clear register.”

📖Quran 74:38
“Every soul will be held in pledge for what it has earned.”

So Why Some Die as Non-Muslims?

Because:

  • Allah gave guidance to all.
  • Some choose to reject despite knowing the truth.

📖Quran 2:256
“Let there be no compulsion in religion. The truth stands out clearly from falsehood.”
