Lessons from Abraham and Muhammad
📖 Riyad as-Salihin 76
Ibn ‘Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said:
“When (Prophet) Ibrahim (Abraham) was thrown into the fire, he said: ‘Allah (Alone) is sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs.’ So did Messenger of Allah Muhammad (ﷺ) when he was told: ‘A great army of the pagans had gathered against him, so fear them.’ But this (warning) only increased him and the Muslims in faith, and they said: ‘Allah (Alone) is sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us).’”
This hadith teaches the importance of unwavering trust and reliance on Allah in times of hardship. Both Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them) demonstrated complete faith in Allah’s power when facing extreme danger. Their belief in Allah’s protection never wavered, even when confronted with threats to their lives.
📖Surah Al-Ankabut 29:69
“And those who strive in Our cause—We will surely guide them to Our ways. Indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.”
🔹 It is important to note that they were prophets, and it was Allah’s divine will to protect them so they could fulfill their mission. Allah knows who needs to be saved to continue delivering the message. This does not mean that all humans will always be saved in the same way.
📖Surah Al-Baqarah 2:214
“Do you think that you will enter Paradise while such trials have not yet come to you as came to those who passed before you? They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until [even] the Messenger and those who believed with him said, ‘When is the help of Allah?’ Unquestionably, the help of Allah is near.”
🔹 The hadith does not mean that no believer will ever face harm. Even prophets were harmed by wicked people. Instead, it teaches us to trust Allah, remain patient, and know that He is the ultimate protector and disposer of affairs.
📖Surah Fussilat 41:30
“Indeed, those who have said, ‘Our Lord is Allah’ and then remained steadfast—the angels will descend upon them, (saying), ‘Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised.’”
🔹 If a believer dies, this too is part of Allah’s protection. Death is not always a loss—in many cases, it is Allah’s way of granting the believer Paradise rather than making them suffer in this world. Allah, in His infinite wisdom, chooses what is best for each individual.
📖Sahih al-Bukhari 6416
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “When Allah intends good for someone, He afflicts them with trials.”
📖Sahih Muslim 2572
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick of a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for it.”
✅ For some, protection comes through survival; for others, it comes through martyrdom and the reward of Jannah.
✅ Trusting in Allah does not mean passivity but maintaining faith while taking necessary steps.
✅ Bad people have always harmed the righteous, but Allah’s ultimate justice prevails.
This hadith encourages Muslims to face life’s trials with patience, courage, and unwavering faith in Allah’s plan, knowing that even death can be a form of Allah’s mercy and ultimate protection.
