Reward for Spending on Family
📖Sahih al-Bukhari 5351
Narrated Abu Mas‘ud Al-Ansari:
“The Prophet (ï·º) said, ‘When a Muslim spends something on his family intending to receive Allah’s reward, it is regarded as Sadaqa for him.’”
Explanation:
- Spending on Family is an Act of Charity – Providing for one’s family is not just a duty but also an act of worship if done with the right intention.
- Intention Matters – If a person provides for their family with the intention of pleasing Allah, they receive spiritual rewards just like giving charity to the needy.
- Includes All Forms of Support – This includes food, shelter, education, and other necessities for one’s spouse, children, parents, and even extended family.
Qur’anic Reference:
📖Surah At-Tawbah (9:60)
“And whatever you spend in good, it is for parents, relatives, orphans, the needy, and the traveler. And whatever you do of good—indeed, Allah is Knowing of it.”
🔹 This verse confirms that spending on one’s family is not just a duty but an act of goodness and charity in the eyes of Allah.
