Every Act of Goodness is Sadaqa
Sahih Muslim 1005
Hudhaifa and Abu Shaiba reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Every act of goodness is sadaqa.
Explanation:
This hadith teaches that charity is not limited to monetary donations. Every good deed, no matter how small, is counted as an act of charity in Islam. This includes:
- Helping someone in need
- Smiling at another person
- Removing obstacles from the path
- Speaking kind words
- Offering guidance or advice
Islam encourages believers to integrate goodness into their daily lives, making kindness and generosity a continuous practice.
Qur’anic Reference:
📖Surah Al-Baqarah (2:261)
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] that sprouts seven ears; in each ear is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is All-Encompassing and Knowing.”
🔹 This verse highlights that acts of charity, no matter how small, are multiplied in reward by Allah. Since every act of goodness is considered sadaqa, even minor good deeds carry immense spiritual benefits.
📖Surah Az-Zalzalah (99:7-8)
“So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.”
🔹 This reinforces that no good deed is insignificant—everything we do, even the smallest act of kindness, is recorded and rewarded by Allah.
Conclusion:
This hadith and its corresponding Quranic verses emphasize that goodness is not restricted to wealth; every kind act is an opportunity for charity and reward. Islam promotes a culture of generosity, where even a smile or a kind word can be a means of earning Allah’s pleasure.
